Profile
During this residency, I will expand my material research by combining resin with traditional Japanese materials such as natural resins, pigments, and washi. My work explores time, memory, and transformation. Here I aim to embed these themes within the material itself. Through experimentation, I will investigate how cultural meaning and material behavior can deepen and shift my visual language.

Residence Plan
Erwin Verkade is a Dutch visual artist exploring the relationship between space, time, and memory through a quiet, meditative visual language. His work balances abstraction and representation, using minimal forms to evoke landscapes that shift between observation and recollection. Influenced by Japanese aesthetics and Ukiyo-e, his practice emphasizes harmony, rhythm, and stillness.
