Profile
Iida Hägglund is a multidisciplinary girlartist. She's interested in feminist practices and themes and she's constantly exploring what feminist sound art could be like. Hägglund has coined the term "girlsound" to describe her art practice: it's intensive, dreamlike, and hauntological; it's resonance in your body, charged; it's a rebellion, mistakes, sad-girl bittersweet on the edge of happiness; it's silly and contradictory, it's home. She's currently working on an installation project and an album.

Base of Activity: Helsinki, Finland
Media Used: Sound art, installation, text, photography, drawing, music, performance

Selected CV:
1) i'm just a girl and girlcrush, Group Exhibition Varttujaiset, Harju's Old Morgue, Helsinki, 2025
2) Award to a Finnish-Swedish artist, Stina Krook Foundation, 2026
3) Master of Arts in Sound and Performing Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki Theatre Academy, 2023; Master of Design in Sound and Moving Image, Glasgow School of Art, 2017

Residence Plan
During her residency, Hägglund will be working on her multidisciplinary art project "Spellbook of my girlhood" combining experimental graphic music composition, sound art, text-based art, installation, and collage art. The work explores girlhood hauntologically utilising the mouth as a portal to girlhood. The project explores girlhood especially in bodily, visceral ways.
