Artist's Profile
Nika Zusin is a visual artist who creates paintings, drawings, 3D-printed sculptures, and graphics. She works with the interplay between light and shadow, color and contrast, and the tension between shapes. She is inspired by Abstract Expressionism, Constructivism, and Magical Realism, which are strongly represented in her work. She is a versatile artist who draws on her education and experience to create her own artistic language in every art form she explores (visual art, music, and dance).

Project Plan (Artist's Statement)
I will create paintings in a Magical Realistic style. Themes of each artwork will be related to Japanese culture. As an artist and cultural anthropologist, I find Japanese culture incredibly inspiring due to its symbolism and meaningfulness. Giving meaning to even the simplest things, such as surrounding oneself with a garden or making a cup of tea, gives people a chance to connect with themselves and contemplate life. Art is a perfect medium to present and appreciate this approach.
