Project Plan (Artist's Statement)
I am fascinated by Shunga, a type of Ukiyo-e print, and its historical transition through time periods of the Meiji Period and 80's Lost Decades. I wish to investigate how erotic culture shifted through time and how the system of doujinshi functions. I am also interested in Eiji Ōtsuka's (大塚英志) essay "Otaku" no seishinshi : 1980-nendairon' where I wish to spend time investigating a discontinued magazine called 'Hey, Buddy' that focuses on Lolita fandom.
