Residence Plan
During this residency, Katherine Longly will work on two long-term projects. She will continue her investigation on women's sumo world, documenting the obstacles on the way to the wrestlers to practice their sport as women. She will also document the depopulation of the island of Aoshima, also known as "cat island", victim of its aging population problem.

3)Many exhibitions in Belgium (As an example, "To tell my real intentions, I want to eat only haze like a hermit" at Botanique art center, Brussels, 2023) and abroad (as "Photaumnales" photo festival in France, 2024 or Photosynthesis gallery, Sofia, Bulgaria, 2025).

Katherine Longly graduated in photography, communication and anthropology. She pursues a commited artistic practice that is both documetary and narrative, combining photography with a visual arts approach that embraces a wide range of visual expression. Her work presents itself as an investigation of the contemporary world, questioning its social and cultural representations. Through her practice, she captures moments and stories that unveil the complexity of the human experience.
