Carla QuaResidence Period: 2024.08.30-2024.10.24 |
Residence Plan
I will create four large-format textile collages exploring metamorphosis as a metaphor for artistic growth. I plan to merge Japanese and Mexican indigo dyeing techniques to symbolize the integration of personal transformation and artistic evolution. The collages will represent stages of change, reflecting periods of creative blockage and new beginnings. The project aims to synthesize experiences into tangible form, uniting diverse cultural traditions to express a personal and artistic journey of transformation.

Carla is a multidisciplinary designer living and working in Mexico City. She is the founder of Agnes Lab, an artisanal dyeing workshop. Each piece is created with natural dyes and traditional dyeing techniques, for which Agnes Lab holds great admiration. Its production is ethical and sustainable, and all of its fabrics and fibers are of natural origin. Each garment is dyed individually or in small batches to offer unique editions with strong, one-of-a-kind colors.
