Residence Plan
I find nature and more specifically honeybees to be a rich source of insights, both in terms of the materials they produce (beeswax), as well as their interconnected dynamic (Swarm Intelligence). Swarm Intelligence (SI) is the collective behavior of decentralized self-organized systems, such as the beehive. The applications of SI range from robotics to artificial intelligence. The purpose of my residency at AIR 3331 will be to develop work informed by Swarm Intelligence (SI) in the context of Tokyo.

Daniel Silva's work typically takes the form of assemblages that inform and transform the space around them. Perception and contemplation play an integral role in forming a cohesion that is not led by a fixed narrative.
Among the materials used by Silva are beeswax, magnets, charcoal, metal and wood, all fundamental in delivering an orchestrated interplay of emotive and referential cues.
