Profile
Erwin Verkade, based in The Hague, graduated as an illustrator from the Willem de Kooning Academy in 2016. His work explores the emotional geometry of memories that shift with moments, the form and meaning of places, and the quiet charm of everyday life. He moves between abstraction and representation, constructing scenes where presence is suggested through absence, using flat color, negative space, and minimal forms to evoke the sense of memories in motion.

Project Plan
Weather Report focuses on quiet spaces in Tokyo and its surroundings. Inspired by Japanese woodblock prints, I will explore neighborhoods through sketching and photography, creating acrylic and ink works. My aim is to reflect Tokyo's poetic atmosphere through a visual language blending abstraction and suggestion.
