Lauren OpiaResidence Period: 2024.11.26-2024.12.23 |
Residence Plan
After years of creating work from a place of isolation, fear and hardness stemming from traumatic experiences, I have finally felt a shift to feeling safe and at ease. I am currently exploring and creating in an emotional shift. Exploring how it has come as a result of the people I have encountered, the places I have been and the consistent act of creating. "To those who brought me home" is an interdisciplinary show expressing the shift from darkness to light.

Lauren Opia is a multidisciplinary artist, animator and filmmaker. Her work finds significance in the transient states between sentimentality, the human psyche and lived experiences, exploring how each individual's Umwelt shapes their way of living. Opia primarily works with ceramics and mixed media animation -- two mediums that often meander into each other's worlds to create a dialogue between Opia's personal experiences and her unique reality.
