Residence Plan
Katherine Longly came to Japan to work with women sumo wrestlers. There are many obstacles on their way to become professional wrestlers: dealing with the stereotypes of "almost-naked" fat women, with the pressure held on women's bodies to fit the standards, but most of all, there are no infrastructures allowing them to practice their sport after university. katherine Longly set out to document their career and life as young adults, by following them over a long period of time.

Media Used: Photography & storytelling
Katherine Longly graduated in photography, communication and anthropology. She develops her projects as an exploration of the contemporary world ; she identifies a social phenomenon that questions her, then documents it and takes the time to meet its actors to understand its issues from the inside. She takes images and collects stories, testimonies and archives, which she then organizes into a multi-layered narrative, from which humour is never excluded.
