Residence Period: 2011.01.30-2011.03.03
Jeremy developed a series of "interactive paintings" inspired by Japan's mythical creatures. As research for this work Jeremy realized a number of workshops with children who were asked to depict traditional mythical beasts as well as their own original creations, which were then brought to life with leds and motors. His final work included a strange tableau of creatures (Tengu, Oni and Kappa) bathing in a half rabbit half turtle onsen surrounded by cherry blossom, all of which glowed, buzzed and whirred at the touch of a button.

In this special artist in residency program 3331 entered into collaboration with a number of art centres and organizations across the Asia-Pacific to offer support for young artists and nurture professional development in the arts. 9 artists recommend by these arts organizations throughout Japan and the Asia-pacific came together at 3331 for 1 month, engaging in the local neighbourhood while producing new work. Through the many people and events they encountered, the discoveries and inspiration they were met with they developed their work, which was then finally presented in an exhibition in 3331's main gallery.
