Stay, create and present in Tokyo with 3331 Arts Chiyoda's residence program
Residence Period: 2011.01.30-2011.03.03
Wiyoga approached this residency as an opportunity to try a new approach to his practice and enter into territory he had not previously been familiar with. Developing work in response to his personal experiences in Japan and his sense of a unique hospitality which he was met with, he came to realize a performative work in which "actors" joined in a party, repeated again and again to a point of absurdity.
< AIR 3331 >
In this special artist in residency program 3331 entered into collaboration with a number of art centres and organizations across the Asia-Pacific to offer support for young artists and nurture professional development in the arts. 9 artists recommend by these arts organizations throughout Japan and the Asia-pacific came together at 3331 for 1 month, engaging in the local neighbourhood while producing new work. Through the many people and events they encountered, the discoveries and inspiration they were met with they developed their work, which was then finally presented in an exhibition in 3331's main gallery.
