Artist's Profile
Sarah Berman was born in Tokyo, Japan and raised in San Francisco, CA. She recently graduated from Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., where she received a B.A. in Studio Art specializing in drawing. Her work focuses on contemporary femininity, and identity, using oil pastels and markers to depict memories and narratives that shape her worldview.

Project Plan
During this residency, I intend to make a collection of oil pastel and marker drawings influenced by growing up immersed in social media and consumption. I will explore how contemporary American and Japanese media and culture have played formative roles in my progression into adulthood and gender expression.
