Artist's Profile
Daniel Gorin is a professional with a wide range of interests and experience in the creative and hospitality fields. Before graduating with a degree in Social Communications (advertising and marketing), Gorin worked as a tutor at Instituto Moreira Salles, an independent visual arts institute in Rio de Janeiro. Upon graduating, he began working as a fashion and portraiture photographer for various publications. In 2005, he moved to London to enroll in the Image Production course at the London College of Communications (University of the Arts). While
taking this course, he was professionally involved with the Peruvian photographer Mario Testino's art collection and art-related projects.

In June 2011, Daniel returned to Rio, where he took the position of General Manager at Grupo Arpoador, a hospitality company that owns two hotels and restaurants. His main task at this family-run company is branding strategy and renovations. Daniel oversaw this work, which concluded in January 2019 with the opening of the new Hotel Arpoador. In addition to their boutique status, these unique hotels are the first zero-waste hotels in the Rio de Janeiro estate. Sustainability is at the core of their operations.

Currently, Daniel is working on the creation of an independent art center in downtown Rio, namely
Salve.

Project Plan
"Of Hospitality"
I hope to bring the concept of "omotenashi" (おもてなし) to an independent visual arts space in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. While referencing the book "Of Hospitality" by the French philosopher Jacques Derrida, I will relate its concepts to the Japanese philosophy of omotenashi. My aim is to lay the groundwork for an independent art institution located in Rio de Janeiro by defining its purpose and creating a curatorial program for the second half of 2025 by first organizing an exhibition together with Romy Pocztaruk, another resident at AIR 3331.
