Residence plan
I intend to work on exploring the connection between words and images (or objects), and the limits of expression, which closely links to communication. My works will mostly be site-specific, using found objects and common materials from the environment to investigate the relationship between semiotics, its signifier and associated perception. I am expecting to add in possible local language and elements of Japanese cultures, such as the subtleness and preciseness that could be found around the city and its habitants.

Serene is an emerging artist who is fond of site-specific and conceptual installation. She works beyond any single medium; she adopts a process-driven and experimental approach, focuses on the qualities and possibilities of various media. Making use of quotidian objects: mirrors, lamps, plant, clock etc. she ask equivocal questions to respond to the environment and experiences of the moment. She is always aiming to reveal the seemingly forgotten or intangible, stimulating re-inspection in life.
