Born 1960. Currently resides in Chiang Mai. Vice Principal of Chiang Mai Art University. Advisor to "The Land Foundation" established by internationally renowned artist Rirkrit Tiravanija. Coordinator of the public art project "Social Installation". His work focuses upon projects which question the condition of public space, civil society and community. Major projects include"The Social Protesting as Artistic Movement Project", "Eco-culture Project" and "The Quiet in the Land Project" held in Luang Prabang, Laos.
Project Introduction
Through various interviews with experts of many different fields, including social scientists, activists, alternative media specialists, artists, architects, urban planners and theorists, alongside members of the Tokyo Thai community, Uthit is undertaking to investigate the democratic condition of the city by highlighting many different opinions which exist in this environment and providing a platform for their "disagreement" in order to promote the plurality and descensus necessary for the state of democracy, offering both critique of Thai and Japanese society.
